Dabum3, asyt and phtn, two very sound semi-equip co's warned of lower revenues for the next qtr and poor visibility going forward, together with cost cutting measures which include personnel. Doesn't sound like a short correction to me. Asyt is on the leading edge of 300mm conversion.

I may well join you in shorting going into the rate cut and after. The only problem is that as I said earlier, when it takes off it will take off very quickly and may not look back for a while. In the meantime I too think that the small investor is the fish in this game. I think if we had to go long it should be in oils and if we had to go short I might well pick on of the strongest sectors with the best longer term future: the semi-equips which have held up pretty well after their early drop.

RE: <<Fellas on Sqawk Box this AM were saying some very bad things about you Californians. Fightin' words if you ask me. <ggg> They called ya'll Liberals.>>

In the old days I use to resist any labels, preferring to think of myself as living outside of such definitions. I always believed in helping my fellow man, even if that sometimes meant knocking him on his ass. It was difficult to know just where I fit in. Fortunately, after hanging out with y'all for awhile, I think I may have been a liberal all the time and not have known it. I am now somewhat proud of the fact that I may be a liberal. As for being a liberal in the GREAT STATE OF CALIFORNIA, what better place could you choose. As I said earlier, we are all intelligent, good looking and articulate. The Hollywood guys you see are culls. There is bound to be some resentment from our less fortunate cousins across the state lines. After all, we are driving fast cars, stealing their women and breathing clean air. If it wasn't for the intense competition here that leaves them unable to find women and propagate, they would undoubtedly stream across our borders and try to live like us. If you are unsure about this check with Gottfried and Warpfactor. Ed
