Accelerating the LCF is a good idea....do that and get rid of the marriage penalty and you'd have a good start....

I have not heard that proposed anywhere....have you? It would seem to be a good way to try and jump start the stock market a bit, because it would put money in the pockets of investors without accomplishing the politically difficult task of cutting cap gains taxes altogether.

OTOH, abolishing the limit on the LCF could also depress already depressed share prices, as investors who are underwater may be inclined to take the losses they haven't already taken so they could write it off against ordinary income. So the impact might be to kill off shares that are already down but paradoxically boost other shares by effectively putting money in people's pockets.
