It is not, as you point out, by nature evil, any more than democracy is necessarily good by its nature.

I pointed out no such thing. I think communism is evil by its nature. Most of the evil assosiated with it was in its methods, but not all of it. At least I would say communism applied to a country or involuntarily to anyone is evil. If a group of people want to start a commune and they are all free to leave if they want then I would not call that evil.

Also I think democracy is good in its nature. What I did say was that a democracy can do evil things.

Marxism, as espoused by Marx was a utopian movement achieved through revolutionary overthrow of a non-representative and illegitimate government. This is not unlike the U.S. revolution.

A government overthrown by marxists may or may not be representative or legitimate, but communism as an idea is not limited to "we should overthrow oppressive, non-representative, illegitimate governments." I'm talking about the ideas that communism would impose. Those are evil even if the regime it might overthrow is also evil.

In that sense, it is noble because it seeks to improve the lot of MANY people as opposed to a FEW.

If I was rich, and you, X, and Win Smith were poor so you came and stole money from me and got away with it, then I (the few) would be worse off, while you, X and Win (the relative many) would be better off, but that doesn't make it noble or good in any way.
