Interesting article, but don't see why it is in any significant way bearish for NG. There are other pollutants besides CO2 which make building a coal plant unfeasable. Sulphur (acid rain) comes to mind. Bush even said he supports regulating the other pollutants, although his credibililty clearly took a big hit with his recent statement.

The Clean Air Act will continue to be enforced and is unlikely to be repealed. Supreme Court recently confirmed EPA's power to regulate things like CO2 via the Clean Air Act. It was a unanimous vote. Companies are unlikely to change spending plans because of a president who, fairly or not, is probably going to be associated with bad times and a possible recession. Right now his re-election odds do not look good.

Bottom line is that this looks like a non-event to me.

This statement amazed me even though I should know better:

"The energy industry opposes regulations on carbon dioxide emissions and says it doesn't contribute to global warming."

translation: Screw the planet as long as we can make a buck.
