I had an errant thought about campaign finance.
Here is a toss-up question requiring a "yes" or "no". Please discuss your reasons why or why not you agree with the offered suggestion following the question. (This test will count for 50% of your grade on Elections. Grammar counts 10% of this test grade (unless your grammar has died :(

Can we agree that Freedom of Speech applies only to individual persons and not to institutions?

Good. Now then, to eliminate undo institutional influence, let them contribute all they want, only to a Federal Election Fund which would disburse the money EQUALLY to all, or only all legitimate (someone smarter than me needs to define the word for this purpose) candidates. In addition, there would be a cap on individuals' contributions to any or each candidate. You could donate as much as you want to, but any amount exceeding the cap amount would be pooled with the institutional contributions.

This could eliminate the excessive influence of corporations, unions, non-profits, etc, etc, without stepping on equal rights and the First Amendment rights of any individual citizens.

Any discussion, or should I just issue an Edict in the morning? :)
