Exactly! I'll bet Intel doesn't get any P4s below 1.8GHz now and they have to downbin everything to 1.5GHz and below! They're probably sitting on P4s way over 2GHz right now!

Sounds like a good strategy. Release only lower MHz parts which sour everyone's opinion of the product, and simultaneously allow AMD to get their foot in the door.

Later on, they can raise the clock speed, just in time for Palomino to come out and continue eating at Intel's market share.

Since the release of P4, we have seen one speed grade step- down.
