Mike, though I usually don't like these fictional stories, this one was pretty good. And, unlike what Wall Street has been telling us for 7 years, the author noted that his story was fictional at the start. <G>

I don't give investors much credit for gettin' educated and seeing through the earnings write-downs on the way down. However, I do give investors' credit for having survival skills. I think the market could turn into what would seem to investors to be a rattlesnake. They could locate it and avoid it, but would have to keep on eye on it at all times lest they wake up dead. Or they could be proactive and get closer and pin it down, but again, they would need a great deal of confidence in their own ability to react to the snake's continued attempts to strike. Whichever path they take, they will know that many, many others tried and failed, and indeed, they themselves were also bitten because they didn't understand how dangerous and tricky the snake turned out to be.

I think basic human nature will be to change the TV channel from CNBC to ER.

mike,
I'm just sorry MB won't be able to write a "Welcome to the downside of my world" column for the next Intel earnings report.
