I don't remember the Fed running negative nominal rates, and that is what I was talking about. But I agree with your comment on inflation adjusted interest rates

Not the fed ,but how about Switzerland in 1979-1980?

You shouldn't be concerned with nominal rates. You should be concerned with effective rates. That's what's of concern to everyone else because it's that which begets the funny behavior that leads to gold speculation.
