NXTL tumbles on Q1 warning (NXTL) By Tomi Kilgore

Nextel Communications (NXTL) warned that slowing business purchases, downsizing and higher costs would negatively impact first-quarter results. Speaking at an investor conference in New York, Nextel chief executive Tim Donahue said, "Based on our review of preliminary results for the quarter, we currently expect to report approximately 500,000 net subscriber additions during the first quarter and operating cash flow which is approximately 15 percent less than [sequential] fourth quarter results." Donahue added that the company was "taking aggressive" action to reduce costs, increase efficiencies and focus on profitability. Shares of the provider of wireless communications services are tumbling $4.06, or 20 percent, to $16.38.

John, Good question, and I hope someone can answer it. I have higher volume and deteriorating up/down volume on COMPX as of noon, and lower to unchanged volume on the NYSE, which is where the selling is greatest. Also not sure what effect options expiration is having on all this.
