frank...cash flow is important, but only matters if profits are transferred yearly to the bottom line and cash and retained earnings are grown. cash flow keeps a business running, but when margins slim down, or an event occurs that disrupts the cash flow, then something else, as cash, must be depended upon for survival....

amazon was claimed to be the ultimate cash flow machine, a new way of doing business...analysis aside, a business must make profit and retain same to survive in the real world...not sure what their massive intangible charge was...do you or anyone else know....sb stated a one time event, but a loss shows for q2,q3,q4 2000...
