I'm not sure what "bandwidth" means in the context of satellites but I think since data is sent in packets it's really more of a software issue than a hardware issue.

I don't know whether Teledesic qua Teledesic will ever be operational but I don't have any doubt that Craig McCaw will stay interested in satellite internet as long as the money holds out. It's the only possible last mile solution for remote areas. I don't care if it ever makes a dime, it's going to happen. If businesses can't do it then governments will.
