thanks for your input on your own personal experiences with viruses. my feeling is that, yes, the av software vendors hype this stuff, but it is also real. i like to stay current and protected, but there is no hysteria or panic here. <g3>

re, "MM, I think your last comments about safe computing are 100% correct".....

for the record, cheeky, those comments to which you refer were in quotations and belong to mike elgan, the winletter author. i, too, think his comments are on the money, to the point of almost going without saying.

mike's comments, again....

"Here's how I look at it: If you practice safe computing and do three basic things - install and regularly update anti-virus software, never open executable e-mail attachments unless you're sure they don't contain viruses and back up your files regularly - then you have nothing to worry about."
