This issue has been hashed and rehashed on boards everywhere. It's obvious that some here didn't read the bulletin for whatever reason.

Aggressive investors (not speculators, investors, this is a conservative newsletter not gamblers annonymous):

50% of cash reserves = 33% 1/3rd

Conservative investors (includes retirees):

30% of cash reserves = 10% 1/10th

Therefore, at these levels conservative investors have lost about 5% of their entire portfolio and aggressive ones have lost about 17% of the entire portfolio. Depending on when they got in but a reasonable number is 83.

This wasn't just 4% on a stock or high risk fund. This was 1/3rd of your entire portfolio. He may now quibble about risk, etc. but that doesn't erase how bad this call was and still is.

These are the most accurate numbers I have seen posted so i assume they are accurate. I'm also sure I'll hear about them if they aren't.
