Hi Gene Parrott ; Sure enough there were, just where Jdaasoc said it would be (Ali Chen posted it after Jdaasoc found it):

1. The "errata" 28 says:
"In system configurations with a single 4 or 6 device PC800 RIMM installed in each channel, the system may experience memory errors"

"...observed behavior can range from being completely transparent to the user to causing system hangs"

"Workaround: Configure systems with PC800 RIMMs with 8 or more devices... or use PC600 RIMMs"

Sounds like "Return Merchandise Authorization required", isn't it? As I said, RMAbus :) :)

2. The errata 28 was added on Jan 12,2000, see the "Revision History" page (iv). However, the errata 29, or next to 28, was made public on December 8, 1999. Therefore the errata 28 apparently is in the work for HALF a Year at least. Now, most of the 40 "erratas" except 10 were fixed, yet the number 28 is still pending the fix.
#reply-13647760 also see #reply-13642291 for Jdaasoc's note.

It's been fixed since then: "This erratum is fixed on all boards with revision -701 and higher."

Here's the latest OR840 errata:

P.S. I guess the way Dave B classifies problems with putting memory modules into motherboards is that if they happen to an RDRAM system, it's a chipset (or motherboard) issue, but if they happen to a DDR system, it's an incompatibility issue. LOL!!!

Gene,

Dave, re: RIMM compatibility.
I don't think there were ever any compatibility issues with RIMM's. (I never heard of any).
Had there been any, the Reg. Or Tom's would have jumped all over it, and a search of their sites shows nothing on that issue.

Good point.
