That is too funny. Maybe because I owned several of them (and soon will again I think) I found that hilarious. I had tears in my eyes.

As for other nominations I would have to suggest Smithee's Diawoo with the fuzzy dice, roll bar, and wide track mud tires.

I was a mechanic until the late 70's. I have laughed until throwing a lung! Thanks. I especially loved the comments. Funniest part was I wrote a quick jot of cars that I would nominate and they were all there. Exceptions would be that AMC POS that I think was called a Pacer? Little glass bubble thing that exploded on impact with anything. Another was the Renault Alliance. Car came from the factory with rust holes.

Yugo was obvious. I remember a dealer up in the Twin Cities that had like 100+ of those things on the lot when Yugo expired. They ran a going out of business sale, buy one Yugo for $1,900.00 including tax get the second free. I still have to chuckle when I think of that.

When I seen this post, I thought oh great I can't wait to see this list. I foolishly though maybe it was your version of the top ten worst cars. I got a good laugh out of it.....

Thanks for sharing that link, I must say though it really it is not something I would expect from you.....you just don't strike me as the "car" type!!

I don't believe that guy ever owned a VW bus.

I've owned two of them a '70(westfalia) and a '75. The '70 was a much better machine.

But I will admit to having an engine fire(and another one unrelated to the mechanics of the van<G>). Fortunately, I learned from the best of them to always carry an extinguisher. A few hoses and wires later and i was good to go.

I'd like to buy an old '68 safari version if anyone knows where one can be had, let me know.

EDIT: And the heat worked in the '70 real good. But you had to keep the window down because of the carbon<ng>

I'm sorry, but this absolutely does not belong in that group:

cartalk.cars.com

That car rocked! IMHO, the chase between that car and the motorcycle in Never Say Never Again was one of the greatest chases on movie history. Besides, it was never even sold in America. I guess they just couldn't get their hands on a picture of a regular Le Car.
