Hi Doug and thread,

Where I live in Canada, we tend to watch a lot of US TV. I've noticed a great number of commercials, by I believe 3 separate organizations re: debt consolidation. That in itself is pretty good, albeit anecdotal evidence to me that a consumer debt problem is brewing.

My question however is this: Does anyone know the rate of recidivism wrt consolidating debts and then getting further into debt. As pointed out in the prior post, plastic is pretty easy to get. If the recidivism rate is high then easing credit to the consumer is obviously only postponing (and exacerbating) the inevitable.

Does anyone know of where these stats could be found.

regards
Kastel
