Well the Nikkei did a 719-point rebound off the lows and finished at +2.6%. I guess everybody was mistaken, their banking system is just fine after all. ROFL.

Actually, this increasing volatility and instability in markets around the world is a pretty ominous sign. 700-point daily ranges for the Nikkei are not usual. The direction is less important than the motion I think.

Japanese government announced last night it would intervene to stop the slide...that led to a short covering rally. it's a recipe for total disaster - all pretense of a free market has been dropped.
