G: interesting post. Too late for me in that I have already bought a medium-sized boat load of CSCO in last week. It was easier for me to own over double the number of shares of csco than amat ;-) Kidding aside, it will be VERY interesting to see which company doubles from their bottom first. Notice how this is already a foregone conclusion.

As I type here, Japan has battled back from steep losses to positive territory, if only slightly, and the futures are up nicely. Maybe if Nikkei can hang on we get a rally tomorrow????? Let us pray!

Your theory is more valid than most because it lacks a prediction date and only hints at a bottom. Even with the warnings that the semi's have issued, earnings are adequate enough to carry the current stock price.

I'm looking at the Feb. 28th issue of Standard & Poor's and the items of interest.

New Rankings:
LRCX, NVLS , QLGC Three Star to two stars
MU , AMD, SYBS Three Star to One star
A, AMKR,ADI, KLAC, QCOM Four star to three star
CREE From 0 stars to 4 Star
FLEX, IDTI , article with ranking 5 Star merits purchase

If the Semi-Equipments stocks do get crunched the only resolution is to blame it on Bush and send him back to Texas.. In another 36months the campaign starts all over again.
