Intel indicated last week that their margins would be coming down. It will be interesting to see how that impacts AMD as any battle will impact the balance sheets of both. The question is which balance sheet will be able to absorb that kind of pressure in a slower growth, recession environment.

Lots of good fodder for discussion between the Intel vs. AMD relationship as well as the IOS vs. JUNOS vs. otherOS in networking as well and how that impacts the 'games' within all the various niches of networking.

Technology investors should have their eyes focused on the process taking place in the semi-equipment companies (like KLAC and AMAT) and the SOXX to see what they have done in the past 5 months to give you an idea of how the market might be showing how a bottoming process takes place. The semi-equips are usually the first to go through that process. No guarantee the process which has been going on since November will break in either direction, but it does provide a 'case study' to watch unfold. The same could be said on the telecom side to view the process of T, WCOM, etc... to see the process they have been going through. Each and every segment of technology will follow through with their individual process and rather than predict, one simply watches it all unfold. At least watching that process takes the ball off the daily focus on bears, bulls, Dow 10000, Nasdaq 1800 or whatever.
