I am no fan of Kudlow (to put it mildly) but he is a real economist.

I was speaking of academic credentials. Mr. Kudlow is rather vague about those.

N.B. I'm a big fan of real world experience vs. academic credentials, so don't hang the ivory tower rap on me. But IMO, things like "Chief Economist" at Bear, Stearns and American Skandia don't count as real world experience. I'd be more inclined to credit him for his time at OMB except that it was during the height of the fantasy years of the Reagan administration, and it's patently clear that he learned nothing from the experience.
