Stock Losses Blamed
In TA Worker's Hanging

Transit Authority maintenance worker, who was reportedly
despondent over his recent failures in the stock market, was
found hanging in the Brooklyn subway yard where he
worked yesterday, an apparent suicide, police said.

Leonid Iorsh, 57, of Brighton Beach, who was on duty at the time,
was found hanging from a steampipe in a supervisor's office inside
the train yard on Avenue X in Gravesend, police said.

According to sources, co-workers told investigators that Iorsh had
been depressed about the recent stock market downturn, which
decimated his financial portfolio.

"It's a sad situation," a worker at the Gravesend train yard, who
asked not to be identified, told the Daily News last night. "The word
[around the yard] was that he had lost $200,000."
