I am not sure what you mean by main trendline. I consider a trendline that which joins highs or lows without cutting through intervening price action. I consider any line that cuts through price action an internal trendline a la Schwager.

The solid blue one will provide some measure of support I am sure, but I consider it of lesser importance than the real trendline underneath.

I do not understand your question about the S&P chart (http://www.geocities.com/brafoo/LT/SPX_Bubble.html).
