Is this the case??? >> Yes. No more WAP! I hate WAP! << I have VZ service in SOCAL with a KYO QCP2035 and there is a $6.95 surcharge each month for having web enable service. >> Yes. I paid that $6.95/mo for the WAP enabled Internet access which I rarely used. I have cancelled that. << The only thing " free " is that there is not air time charge while being logged on to the web; as far as I can tell. >> I think you are charged air time although if you are on any Single Rate plan it is bundled in MOU. The 6035 comes with Eudora Web browser:"You also get the Eudora Web browser, which speeds up the arrival of Web pages by omitting graphics. If you prefer to see the pictures, you can always substitute another free Palm Web browser. And if you prefer a big- screen, color Web experience, you can use the phone as a wireless modem for a laptop". I have not used EudoraWeb yet. Instead I use a browser called Browse-It (formerly called ProxiWeb) from a service called Intellisync (formerly ProxiNet).intellisync.com ProxiNet was free. Intellisync is now, but will eventually (end of March?) require a subscription. No price for the service announced yet. Once you have set Browse-It up, it, it dials your ISP, logs in and then whips over to Intellisync, which provides data compression and optimization enabling pretty much dial up speeds. PDF here describes set-up and use:intellisync.com I also use AvantGo (free) for great push content:avantgo.com I actually use AvantGo a lot more than Browse-It. Web surfing on a mobile, even this one, I save for "emergency" access. AvantGo pushes down a days worth of reading material from channels I subscribe ( Business Week Online, InfoWorld, Red Herring, Stock Smart Stock Tracker, Weather24, Upside Today, Wired News, Fool.com - Quotes and News, WSJ, etc). Synchronize before leaving home or office to fetch it, or fetch it from the road. Read on a plane, train, cab, or at the Pub. Truly useful. Even Merlin would like it. <g> - Eric -
