I am sure people, whenever they became people enough to want easy clearly delineated answers, made up myths about how they became whatever they became

But since people's perception of what they are generally seems to be extremely grandiose (I am unique and extremely valuable, my life has some ultimate purpose, there is a ALL KNOWING ALL POWERFUL BEING and he cares about ME Me me) it doesn't surprise me that all cultures want a cool way of becoming who they are. And they all have it. Now I have no problem thinking I am valuable in a given moment- but ultimately? In the time scale of the Earth, or the Universe? My life and all the lives on SI mean nothing on that time scale. Which doesn't matter in the least to me.
