Beatles Hits far from Yesterday with Intel Online Services, Inc.

READING, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2001--MSN, the UK's most visited web destination, has chosen Intel Online Services to host the new Beatles web site for EMI, the global music giant. MSN chose a Dedicated Managed Hosting Service from Intel Online Services to develop and host the site. This runs on a flexible and powerful server solution based on Intel architecture and supports a site so popular that it received 1.25 million hits within the first six hours of its launch.

MSN has a network of local language portals in 33 markets across the world, attracting 230 million unique users every month, and needed to find a hosting partner at very short notice who could have the Beatles site up and running within a week. Intel Online Services was able to deliver this as well as providing other crucial support services including backup, data recovery and site monitoring. The Beatles site is hosted centrally from the Intel Online Services data centre near Reading in the UK.

``Having the Beatles site hosted on Intel architecture by Intel Online Services means that the site is robust, scalable and secure. This is essential as the site is the major channel by which we are promoting the new Beatles album and we need to be able to cater for large volumes of traffic visiting the site,'' comments Stuart Anderson, MSN Marketing Manager. ``We've had a very positive interest in the site already and I think this is a great example of how the Internet can be used as a marketing tool.''

Intel Online Services data centres are designed with no single points of failure, backup power and multiple connections to the Internet to ensure that web sites are maintained at all times. More than 2000 tests per hour are made to identify and isolate any problems with the Internet.
