From the article:

Only 44 percent view him favorably as a person! Sixty-seven percent say he's neither honest nor trustworthy! And 77 percent say Clinton lacks high moral and ethical standards!

What's going on here? Are the American people so willing to accept a dishonest, untrustworthy president as long as they perceive that he's doing a good job?

The answer, unfortunately, is yes.

My my. The article claims ONLY 44 percent view him favorably as a person. But 44 percent is a quite a large figure considering the person to whom it refers.

Yes, you are wrong again.

The polls taken closest to Clinton's exit, showed his lack of popularity, job or otherwise. She was citing the old polls.

Gallup documented the facts and that is recorded on this thread.

The percentage of Americans holding a favorable view of Bill Clinton declined from 57% in early December to 51% today. With 48% currently holding an unfavorable opinion of Clinton, up from 41% in December, the public’s judgment about Clinton is now decidedly mixed. In addition to the pardons, there have been other controversies in the news that could account for the drop in positive public opinion about Bill Clinton -- there is the matter of the White House gifts taken by the Clintons for their personal use, as well as the high cost of Bill Clinton’s new office space in New York City.

That poll was taken about 10 days from his exit. And as people reflect on Clinton and his tenure, they have come to revile him even more - something like 60%.

It's a sad day when there's a difference of such magnitude as it was with WJC, and that's OK...
