I think this making money off the internet is totally in it's infancy...It's an ongoing practice in success and failure...It's an ongoing battle in learning by trail and error...And anyone who says they have it all figured out is fooling themselves....anyone who says that is just projecting their agenda on the will of the people....I can tell you there are so many factors you would never think about...and that's why a lot of people probably quit and give up....but if you've got an established system...if your trying to keep overhead low...and streamline things...and do the work of ten people...it's like ...geeze...some of these yet to spring on the scene companies are going to clean up in some niche markets that are not even established....and to compare an amazon business model and to extrapolate that across other business models is an extreme disservice IMO....because nobodies going to do it the way bezos did it...Nobodies going to have the backing and the hype and the fluff of the investment banking the way bezos had the money to burn...It's an extreme disservice if you extrapolate bezos debt service across the other companies that are forging ahead on the internet....You can totally take the debt out of the equation on a lot of the companies...You can totally take the overhead question out of the equation on a lot of the companies...You can take the payroll stuff and throw it out the window on a lot of the companies...Lot of factors you can throw out the window...I'm just waiting for some of the firms to start bidding on government money...Let's start a free for all bidding war on all of the government job justifiers...that's when we really start to see some change...that's when you'll really see the whites of their eyes....

....Just an underlying attitude...a cavalier attitude ...to me...Just an underlying attitude of doing things well...Moving ahead not out of fear...Just moving ahead...I like that...It's not the protective mindset of some other firms...It's different...It's fresh...It's strong...It comes from strength...IMO.

Impristine,

I agree completely. Lately, they have been adding features very quickly with a bug here and there that they eventually correct. The model has to be more diverse from the revenue side. The advertising model has revenue but is not everything and obviously one cannot always count on it. There about six services that should be marketed as fee based to small companys. The remainder still would be free. The marketing can be in the form of telemarketing for one as much as I hate it. The small business person needs to be told how the set of Yahoo features can help their business.
