If a majority in a democratic country vote for high levels of taxation- how is that unjust?
You, as a dissenting citizen, could always vote with your feet and leave. It would really be anti-democratic if you insisted on foisting your minority opinion upon the majority. Are you anti democratic?

I, too, asked a tax question on another thread and didn't get an answer. Perhaps you or someone else on this thread has a thought to share.

I recently did the math to get an idea of what the proposed tax cut would mean to me, personally. With all the talk about dueling tax cuts all during the campaign, the priority Bush is putting on one now, and the criticism of the size of the cut and the way it's structured, I was expecting to get a serious reduction in my taxes. Well, I was just shocked to see I was looking at a few hundred dollars the first year and just about ten percent over ten long years. It looked like peanuts to me in comparison to what I was expecting at least. Hardly enough money to either make me feel like I was getting my money back from Uncle Sam or to make me want to run out and stimulate the economy.

Was anyone else surprised at how puny their tax cut would be?
