I find it distasteful if they try to say something is as bad as Hitler but it in reality is no where near as bad. I also agree with you that it is an overused example. However in this case it is the perfect logical example to make the point.

If someone is to propose that since "the government is the people", to justify its actions of stealing, or other immoral unjust actions, then they should examine the extreme cases to see if they really believe that.
