Well you may think that is so, but it is not. Remember Ancient Greece was a democracy but it had slavery. America for the first 100 years or so of its existence had slavrery. Does that mean it wasn't a democracy at that time. Democracy is simply a political system where the majority rules. Nothing more - nothing less. Your reference to the fourth amendment really supports my argument. Since it is an amendment to the constitution and was not passed until after the country was formed it is not what makes America a democracy. Actually technically we are not a democracy but a republic or more accurately a democratic republic.

I am surprised you would even argue the point. I learned about these things in elementry school.
