Heinz - one thing to keep in mind about Loral is that they are on the conservative/Republican sh*t list for leaking missile secrets to the Chinese. Loral builds satellites, and runs satellite industries, but it doesn't launch satellites, in the sense of firing off missiles (Boeing and Lockheed do US commercial launches, and also Orbital for VSATs but there are a number of international firms that do, too, and also consortiums, joint ventures, and so on). Loral was using Chinese Long March missile systems to launch Loral birds and after that the facts depend on who's telling the story, but to cut it short there is a widespread belief that Bernie Schwartz, the Loral CEO, is left wing and gave the Chinese secrets to our missile defense. He is a big contributor to the Democrat party, and the Clinton administration had a lot of scandals involving the Chinese.

In general the US satellite biz is constrained by controls aimed at limiting the export of military technology, and companies which can are shifting to non US companies for satellite tech and services.

Of course it's always darkest before the light breaks, so if you've got into on how that situation will change, I would be glad to see it.
