Paul, on a more serious note, this is the best news to hit INTC in a long time, and God knows we sure needed it. Seems like a reverse of last year's GHz race, where AMD got wind of Intel's 1 GHz launch date in advance, then beat them by two days. I think this time, Intel got wind of AMD's (rumored) mobile Palomino launch next Monday and decided to turn the tables by beating AMD to mobile 1 GHz on that day. The only difference is that, according to the article, notebooks with 1 GHz mobile Pentium III will be available at the day of the launch. Now this is excellence in execution, if I do say so myself. Those of you calling for Barrett's head on a platter should reconsider now that we're seeing the first fruits of Intel's 2001 theme of "Operational Excellence." Tenchusatsu

Paul, Intel and AMD have dueled before, both preannouncing 1-GHz desktop Pentium IIIs last year. I missed the AMD PIII announcement. I wonder if the i815 board in my Linux box was also made by AMD? Scumbria
