Ron, all it takes is for someone who does not understand to go walking through some infected field in England and bring his untreated shoes back to the US and repeat the process. Then we could have states in panic and may well wonder at stability of our own union.

I hear they are now treating luggage from some European countries on arrival at major US airports. I don't know to what extent. Most likely those who admit to being near one of the out breaks.

The European farming system is still based on what we would consider the small family farm model. That means a great many people are effected, and a great many more are directly aware of the possible ramifications. Agriculture in Europe is, by virtue of the geographical size and the systems, far less isolated than ours. Failure to stop this plague could ruin a large portion of the sector; for many without any outbreak in their herds whatsoever.

I believe this is a major aspect of the European market declines; and I do no view it as an over reaction to this situation.

Soybean Meal imports to europe may be increasing due to the foot and mouth disease situation.

It's a bad situation all the way around.
