IMO The "failure" of turning around Novell appears as a broad statement which I can't subscribe to. IMO, he failed to make Novell's stock act like _____ (fill in the blank). But if we were to look at the "turnaround" as moving Novell away from its legacy NOS product line to an e-commerce/Internet infrastructure company, I think he's succeeding. I won't say succeeded because that "plan" has not finished. We're still half-way through.

Why? Because of the many items that Paul Fiondella mentioned in his post(s).

Right now, Novell sells more than just NetWare and GroupWise. It sells almost 2 dozen+ products which in many cases can be turned into pure service plays (meaning, I can start a company and sell the services on a per user, per month fee basis - i.e., GroupWise Wireless/WebAccess or NIMS).

In my eyes, the goal is to make Novell a company with a STRONG portfolio of products that CAN create revenue growth (sustainable too!) over a period of time that will show higher earnings that push a steady rise in the stock price.
