I just remember the new Sony flash memory recorder got panned because it used their proprietary compression technology which wasn't widespread. MP3 is. There is no reason MP3 can't be used on sites that charge a royalty.

I love my Rio 500. It's easy to use. Easy to download songs. I'm just p.o.'d that the extra flash memory cartridge is not availably any more, and it's only about 18 mos. old.

And another thing I just discovered about it is that the bass in incredible but only if you push the headphones into your ears. So I don't think the sound quality suffers that much.

Replay TV and Tivo were portrayed as the next great thing on one of the segments last night on "60 Minutes".

I got a Rio since I own the company. So I might get a Replay TV as well.
