VIX has had spikes into the 40's, 50's, and even 60's once, and that was during absolutely huge blowoffs such as Fall of '98 and Spring of '00.

Believe me - there are lots of people with cash licking their chops right now. Bargains are out there and they know it, but "why not wait until they get a little cheaper?", they are saying.

Fed cuts almost always cause a rally within a few months and they know it. We will all look back on this years from now and marvel at how low-priced the GLW's and ORCL's were, but right now everyone is obsessed with picking the bottoms. For some of us, it is a challenge and bit of fun. I do feel a bit sorry for those that put the intense pressure of making a living at daytrading though.

Dave -- VIX: We need to get CNBC to raise the bar on the VIX to the 38-40 range -- 35 isn't getting people scared enough anymore! RMBS: devastating--. I like the IP, but these lawsuits are hanging over them like a sword. And there are accusations of fraud -- that RMBS hid some of its patent applications from JEDEC when they were in the process of defining memory standards. Implication: RMBS pushed for inclusion of its own property without telling the committee that it would own the licensing rights. I'm just going to watch it and see how these legal problems play themselves out. RMBS should be a great buy, if it can get these issues resolved and focus again on being a memory company, instead of a law firm.

This said, RMBS just exploded for 3+ points in about three minutes. Someone came in hard to squeeze the shorts! Hilarious--. Now they're dumping it again, just as fast. RMBS is a great stock to watch: tremendous entertainment value!

I agree with you on GLW. I'm also waiting on NT to see what it offers for an end-to-end next-gen optical solution. If they can make inroads on CIEN, it could be a nice pickup
