OT - More Federal Reserve...The Fed really runs itself. This is quoted from page 1250 of the Appendix, FY2001 Budget of the US...on the BOGov of FRS..Financing - Under the provisions of section 10 of the FRA, the BOG levies upon the Fed. Res. banks, in proportion to their capital and surplu, an assessment sufficient to pay its estimated espenses. The Board, under the Act, determines and prescribes the manner in which its obligations are incurred and its expenses paid. Funds derived from assessments are deposited in the Fed. Res. Bank of Richmond, andthe Act provides that such funds "shall not be construed to be Government funds or appropriated moneys." No Government appropriation is required to support the operations of the Board. The infornmation presented (meaning the accompanying program and financing charts) pertains to Board operations only. Expenditures made on behalf of the Fed. Res. banks for production, issuance, retirement and shipment of Fed Res. notes are not included, since they are reimbursed in full by the Fed. Res. banks.

So, I stand corrected...there are no appropriated funds by Congress to run the Fed...they are like a little fiefdom, they levy taxes on the regional Feds to pay for operations)..

Where did you get the idea that the NY Fed Res. Bank was controlled by private stockholders. That makes no sense at all.

George

It's Official; I have scheduled the V bottom for this Wednesday. Actually, it’s more of a skewed Hockey Stick. Sharp down Blade side; long slow gradual Stick side up. This will hit the Nasdaq mostly, but NYSE money will need to come out to support the legs of the shattered accounts.

My best advice: Own companies that have earnings. And yes the size of the earnings in relationship to the stock price does indeed count. A 100 dollar stock with 27 cents beating expectations is not the same as, a 15 dollar stock with 2 dollars per share, that is in a slowing sector.

The value of big growth in a slowing trend is being shown, but cash is always cash. Its pretty simple really, companies have activates that generate cash are valuable. Companies that ONLY generate growth or market share, while very trendy interesting discussion topics are simply not safe.

Pro Forma means Pre-Tenda, I assure you that this slowdown is a one time exceptional event that will not happen again next year. Since that is the criteria for pro-forma, does that mean we don’t count the down turn?

A company making the products for “Next big trend” say an Optical Networking stocks, has nothing at all to support it, and no demonstrated earnings, with core technology which are not adopted as the standard yet. And you can count on another thing; the “next big trend” has 30 companies or more running for 5 permanent places. Of the remaining 25--- only 5 are bought out. The 20 other, they become historical references of what happened. Remember the Osborne first portable computer, indeed it was revolutionary; indeed, the company could not manage inventory, and flopped on its own skills. But I digress.

Good luck and good trading to all.

(the last time I felt like this I was a year off, ++that INTC would take out the tech sector on missing expectations++ But my Gut is fatter now, and indeed is screaming this message much louder this time.)
