rambus market cap is at around 2B. Been kind to Rambus, I will give it earnings of 100Mil for the next 2 years with a value of 200mil assuming 0 discount. Now subtract the legal fees and you get a half of that.
Now take a look at who is going to get that remaining 100 Mil

It is a safe bet to say that Intel will not make a killing on their rambus warrants.

Dan - Re:"Rambus went through $20 like a hot knife through butter - any guesses on where it's going to stop? $16 $12 $8"

Rambus is in deep trouble.

It appears that the window of opportunity is closing for RDRAM and it is headed for a position as a niche technology. It appeared that a royalty stream on SDRAM and DDR would make cover the poor prospects for RDRAM.

But the SDRAM patent claim is in deep trouble. The Court interpreted the patent claims and found that they do not cover SDRAM. This is the key ruling but it has been mostly ignored as most everyone makes noise about the possibility of fraud.

On fraud, the Court only told Infineon that they could go take a look but it is a big leap to actually prove that there was a fraud as Infineon is claiming. Rambus did participate on the JEDAC committee for a while until it resigned. But it is a huge leap to suggest that getting a patent that covered the SDRAM standard was "fraud".

It was aggressive conduct by Rambus but it is extreme to call that fraud. Is it "fraud" when Infineon's lawyers try an aggressive counterattack with a RICO fraud claim that will almost surely fail?

Come on. You know Rambus is ultimately a $0 or a cheap buy out. It's just a matter of how long.

Dan,

Rambus went through $20 like a hot knife through butter - any guesses on where it's going to stop? $16 $12 $8

Depends on how fast Intel can switch to DDR.
