robert, i was let go from a job due to my developing a repetitive strain injury. of course, that wasn't their reason. they changed my boss post surgery and he gave me a fraudulent review. i torched him with my 20 page response. documented nearly $1,000,000 in savings in 2-3 years. it was very professional. they ran it by their lawyers and their response 2 weeks later was... "nevertheless, you must improve in the areas highlighted in the review." they couldn't go head up with the facts. they were really dirty and really underhanded. this on top of their worker's comp rep flat out lying to me. anyway, they eventually fired me (i saw it coming 6 months in advance - they telegraphed it - and prepared for it). i was fired wednesday, interviewed Thursday and started on a Monday. i still have about 8 60 minute microcassettes documenting the whole affair. my advice is... don't get even, get ahead. i'm way ahead had i ever stayed there. waaaaaaaaaaaay ahead. i couldn't sue for anything b/c i wasn't damaged. at least no firms wanted to take the case. i used the experience to become a better person and my employees have been spoiled rotten - as they overachieve in productivity and quality - ever since. they get respected and treated fair b/c i know what the "dark side" can do to people. it isn't pretty. kicking a guy while he is down is about as bad as it gets. i've lost money in the market before but never spent time devising ways i could kill myself b/c the pain was unbearable. you see, the key for me waas to do it so that my fiance would make out ok financially. thank goodness surgery corrected most of the problem. perspective is important. get ahead. not even.
