John Roque just sounded awfully bearish on CNBC. Thinks 1750 or 1350-1400 is likely.

I suspect we will have another few months of bad sales and earnings news. Each time bad news comes out it seems to be reflected in the prices of the announcing company, its competitors, its suppliers, and its customers (if it doesn't provide an end product itself). Ultimately, stock prices reflect earnings--actual or expected. Right now we are acting out a chain reaction of bad news. Good news is very hard to come by. Until we start getting positive surprises in a pattern--maybe even positive in that things aren't as bad as projected--I don't see any rally being sustained.
