Wit SoundView computer analyst Gary Helmig said the CSC shortfall seemed to be centered on internal issues at the company and shouldn't reflect on the entire sector.

``It's a profitability issue, not a revenue one,'' he said. ``The problem is that gross margins are way off (of forecasts). It looks like a problem unique to CSC,'' Helmig said.

CSC does not have the long term business portfolio that EDS has and I think its higher concentration in consulting, shorter term software development and web development business is getting hit like the others who are in this segment. EDS has $80B in business backlog to work off. EDS is weak because of the market downturn - noone's buying anything to speak of and those that are are bidding down the ask penny by penny.
