sounds a little personal opalapril - that's unnecessary.
if you read the post without emotion you would see that it offers the viewpoint that some bear markets go on longer than we would expect.

You are right that world peace is a major difference between now and the Great Depression. That is, in my opinion, the main reason why the aftermath of our bubble will be much more benign, more along the lines of Japan in the 1990s. Also, overall wealth has grown. We probably will not starve.

On the other hand, economic thought has probably regressed, and certainly not advanced. Also, stocks reached a far greater degree of overvaluation. Most importantly, the credit bubble is greater. Debt to GDP ratios are far higher than the previous record of 1929.
