BTW: One of the reasons I participate in this thread and the Ericsson thread is to attempt to stay up to speed on the technologies that constitute 100% of the wireless mobile telephony sub base in the world, not just 11.5%. That leads me to ask you the question - just what is it, that motivates many of our fellow Qualcommers to proselytize on this thread rather than contributing to it? I read every post on the Moderated thread, read every post on the S&P500, and read the first 25,000 on the "Coming of Range" thread. How do you like wading through the redundant posts over here? << Nokia management - which seems to be like the old Asian companies which thought production cost cuts were what will win - suggest, 't aint so >> You can suggest it all you like ... but that's a pretty shallow view of Nokia, for someone with your knowledge, and that is NOT how they produced last years win, or laid the groundwork for the future. << But then, Nokia management is the best, no? Suggest, no. >> Once again, feel free to suggest ... but in this industry sector ... and the sector is wireless equipment... as a team ... and as a whole ... in my most humble opinion, and after watching the sector closely since 1994, they are absolutely without peer. That is not to say that there are not other great leaders in the industry, but for one, single unified management team, I'll take Jorma and Matti and Sari and Pekka and Olli-Pekka. Now putting on my QCOM hat let me say that I sure do miss Andy Viterbi. Now let me take off that QCOM hat, because this is the Nokia thread ... and I find it very unfortunate that a moderated Nokia thread had to be created to cut down the static over here, just as I felt that it was a shame that the QCOM rules thread had to be established, and finally it had to be taken moderated because some couldn't even follow some common sensical rules that ought to be practiced on every thread on SI. There was a time when many knowledgeable Qualcommers, including yourself, added some value to the discussion over here. << Pitiful >> That is a word I may have used to describe the BofA Tech Week presentation made by the President and Chief Operating Officer of the company that represents my largest portfolio holding. My reaction to that presentation caused me to almost immediately take down my position in that company, and it will be a long time before I listen to another presentation by him. Now having ranted a bit, how would YOU have Nokia management build on the numerous core competencies they have painstakingly developed to impart share holder value? - Eric -
