Recession??? Layoffs??? Massive Inventories??? Something does not jive!!!!

I just had lunch with some one that works at CIN-RAM, a Canadian company with some of it's manufacturing in Huntsville, Al., this party told me that they are working 12 hour shifts and on weekends. Also said Cin-Ram has never had a layoff in the history of the company. Duh!!!

Cinram is one of the largest manufacturers of pre-recorded VHS, CD-Audio, CD-ROM, DVD, and Audio Cassette for the Movie, Music, and Software Industries!

Latest company statement includes the following:

2001 First half outlook:

As previously indicated in the December 22, 2000 press release, Cinram expects results will continue to be negatively impacted in 2001 given the significant amount of surplus capacity in the industry. So far in the first quarter, orders for audio CD and CD-ROM media products have been below prior year levels, primarily due to a lack of music and software releases. However, management is hopeful that the second half of the year will see stronger performance.

I am by no means suggesting this stock for anyone and I do not have nor do I want any of this stock.

I just thought it was interesting how you can get two entirely different stories on one company.

Oh did I mention that Cin-Ram is building one of the largest manufacturing additions I have ever seen anywhere. Another: Duh!!!!
