I think the effect is the opposite - as looks to be already reflected on the chart: Like a freeze and OJ. The infected livestock aren't dangerous to people - they're really dangerous to each other, so have to be slaughtered - creating shortages and price inflation. Now if they could just come up with a disease that infected gold bullion, the gold bugs would finally get that repeat rally they've been waiting for for twenty years.
