To: isopatch who wrote (88752 ) 3/17/2001 12:02:30 PM From: jim black Respond to of 95453 Slightly off topic but still relative to prospect of making money in this dangerous market...Bull, Isopatch, Slider...any of you smart guys (and I went to med school in the late '60's, and sorry you guys and gals, this old fart, being a veteran of a southern medical school in Dallas,...and a survivor opines you folks who complain of Slider's "rudeness" are in the fortunate position of not knowing what verbal abuse is!, so Slider, slur and sling away, doesn't bother this old fart...but I digress from the question) :::: What is the thread's sagacious opinion of Stillwater Mining as the only PMG producer outside Russia and South Africa? Jimmy Rogers, who used to grace CNBC with his rapier wit and blatant cynicism was always extolling the virtues of raw materials, especially scarce ones...including oils, strategic metals, etc. But rich Jimmy has gone on a 2-3 year sabbatical. I pose this question to this (still) eclectic thread...I understand there is a "new" one? And why the fascination with (Bull, wanna enlighten a dumbass?) AEM, and no mention of a company who says in their web site they get royalties from oil/gas, and appear very well positioned in gold, namely Franco-Nevada in Canada...no debt, ~$ 700 million in cash, and NO hedging. I own some 2000 shares of Franco-Nevada, in at US$ 9.11, doing okay so far, and have recently dipped into a small position in Stillwater, but curious as to feelings, informed opinions, regarding more of same...and a PM re: AEM if it appears too OT for the thread. For all the occasional rancor, I for one, appreciate all of ya...one of the two best threads on SI IMHO, other being Coming Collapse of 2001 where there is jewel of a rake with a wit like harpy knife named Jay Chen, with an absolutely amazing view of the Asian perspective AND he is articulate and funny. I figured weekend was the safest time to pose this kinda OT question. Force be with ya all in comin' weeks... jim black
