It Might Be More Meaningful To Plot The Short/Long Ratio

Since increases in the absolute size of the net is less meaningful without some context of the total size of the positions.

And then plot the percent change in the net position with the percent change in the market on a weekly basis.

And then lets do a linear regression of the data and see if there is value in the information.

how does this chart show and increase in the short? the red line drops off the chart DOWN. if that's an increase then at mkt highs that means they were way long. ???
