My suggestion was to replace the drive because it's cost effective. The drive you'll want to get should be sized as if it will be the only disk you'll have. Only after you're completely satisfied that your new OS is working the way you want, will you feel free to erase the old OS from the old drive, thus creating a huge chunk of disk space for other uses.

P.S. Actually, it wasn't MY suggestion. I just read it on the Dream Machine thread and thought it a swell idea.
