Very illustrative pictures. I look at the market hour by hour lately. You can always have the opportunities, long or short

True enough. I don't position trade long, but I intraday trade futures in whatever direction makes sense.

However, if one enjoys hunting for big elephants, reducing commissions, and increasing opportunity to catch large extended moves, then its best to trade in the direction of the primary trend, when the intermediate time frame trend is also in the same direction.

Perhaps more importantly, trading when the short/intermediate/long term trends are all moving in the same direction means that unexpected events like Nasdaq gap down are unlikely to hurt us since if we are in the market we'll be on the right side of the trade.
