It's a V shaped lake formed by damming two arms of Salt creek. The intake's on the north arm and the discharge on the east arm. A two mile stretch by the discharge is closed during the winter to protect the ducks and fish.

During a real cold spell this winter they had an "event" at the plant and shut down. 6,000 fish gathered at the discharge as the water cooled, then they turned the plant back on full bore. Among the cooked fish were an 8 pound walleye, a 20 pound striper and a 60 pound flathead catfish.

The plant cost $4 billion to build and sold last year for $20 million plus the selling company had to buy $20 million of electricity so they basically gave it away.
